The instructions for installing the Dashboard on Exchange Server 2000 use a
second server. For testing you may wish to use just one server and the
instructions are confusing in that situation, although the instructions for
the v2.2 kit are much improved over older instructions.
Creating a Web Storage Instance for the Dashboard on your existing Exchange
Server
The steps below outline the process to create a top-level public store.
- In the Exchange System Manager, right-click the Folders.
- Click New, and then Public Folder Tree…
- In the Name field of the General tab of the Properties
dialog box, type the name of your new folder tree, e.g. Sample, then
click OK.
- In the Exchange System Manager, double-click the Servers.
- Right-Click the name of the server in the Servers tree, e.g. PCS-EX2.
- In the pop-up menu, click New, and then click Storage Group…
- In the Name field of the General tab of the Properties
dialog box, type the name of your new storage group, e.g. Sample Group,
then click OK.
- In the Exchange System Manager, Right-click the new storage group you
just created, e.g. Sample Group.
- In the pop-up menu, Click New, and then click Public Store…
- In the Name field of the General tab of the Properties
dialog box, type the name of your new public store, e.g. Sample.
- In the Name field of the General tab of the Properties
dialog box, Click Browse…. button.
- In the Select a Public Folder Tree dialog box, select your newly
created folder tree, e.g. Samplein the Available public folder trees
list box, then click OK.
- Accept the changes by clicking OK out of the dialogs.
- In the Exchange System Manager, open the Servers folder and
open the server (PCS-EX2)
- Open Protocols and right-click HTTP.
- Select Create New Virtual Directory.
- Type in a name for the Virtual root – this is how you will address the
digital Dashboard. For example
http://PCS-EX2/SampleDD.
- Click on the Access tab, and select the Script option in the
Execute Permissions Section.
- Select OK and you have finished setting up the new store.
To install the Exchange 2000 Digital
Dashboard Sample:
Run DDRK_EX.msi from
the CD ROM. An installation wizard guides
you through the process. You will enter the
virtual root of the new store you created
above - For example
http://PCS-EX2/SampleDD. At the end of
the setup, the browser will launch with the
new dashboard. The URL will be
http://PCS-EX2/SampleDD/Digital Dashboard/
Setup copies the following files to your computer.
